Beach Portrait Paintings in Hawai'i

Aloha, I'm Laura,

I turn beach days with your family into oil paintings you'll have forever.

We meet at the beach. I photograph your family in the light, the water, the real moments. Then I paint it in oil at my studio in Kona.

Perfect For

Families visiting the Big Island who want something more lasting than vacation photos. Local families who want a meaningful piece of art celebrating their kids. A gift for grandparents they'll treasure. Couples who loved their wedding painting and want to continue the tradition with their growing family.

How the Portrait Process Works

An easy, streamlined service that you can fit into any beach day.

  • Book Your Session

We pick a date, a beach, and talk about what you're envisioning. I send a simple proposal and a link to make your deposit.

We hold the day before and after as backup for weather or tough days with little ones

  • At The Beach

I select the most paintable images and send you a small gallery. You pick the one that speaks to you. Then I paint your portrait in oil at my studio in South Kona.

Most paintings take about two months. Once yours is finished, it ships to your door via FedEx, insured and signature-required.

  • Creating Your Painting

After the session, I'll select the most paintable images and send you a small gallery. You pick the one that speaks to you.

For group portraits, I can combine elements from a few photos so everyone looks their best.

Painting Style

These portraits are as much about the place as the people. The light on a specific beach, on a specific day. I paint the light as much as the people in it. It's a portrait of your family and a portrait of that day.

Nothing is posed. Everything is real.

My style is inspired by Sorolla, the Spanish master of light and water. Impressionistic brushwork, sun-drenched color, and the feeling of being there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Meet the Artist

I'm Laura, an artist and live wedding painter based in South Kona. I've spent twenty years painting people at their most joyful moments, and beach portraits grew out of that work.

I grew up in Southern California practically living in a wet bathing suit, and I'm still happiest in the water. The ocean is where I feel most at home. I think that's why the beach is the perfect place to paint people. Everyone is a little more themselves there.

I'd love to paint your family.
